Dwell

Dwell: to live or stay as a permanent resident; reside.

Psalm 27:4 “One thing have I asked of the Lord, that I will seek after:  that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple” (emphasis added)

Dwell.

This verse, has been circling in my head since the London airport, and I’ve begun to ask the question:

What does it look like to dwell well?

If the only thing I am seeking after is to make a permanent residence in the house of the Lord, then it doesn't matter where I physically am. It doesn't matter what I am accomplishing. Instead, I can rest knowing I am always at home in the Spirit.

This is my desire -- to reside in his presence. Live, stay, reside, dwell.

These are not temporary vacations, quick respites, small retreats. This is a lifestyle. A commitment to a place. A commitment to the House of the Lord.

God is showing me this week as we have been preparing to officially begin Edge Project 2018, what it looks like to RESIDE in his presence.

To abide rather than strive.

We have planned, prepped, organized, tested, conversed and I’ve tried SO HARD to ensure that these events go as planned. That I have the right words to say, that my Spanish is up to par, that the events are engaging and community oriented - accessible yet intriguing.

But ultimately, I’ve thrown up my hands in surrender - His Will be done. The Lord will accomplish what He wants through our constant reliance on Him. I bring my ideas, my creativity, my gifts as an artist and my love for people, and I have completely surrendered and laid them at His feet. To simply be.

As I reside in his presence and make my home, not in any apartment or country, or among friends, family or strangers, but in His House. It is there that I dwell. It is there that my spirit finds rest and renewal, so I can share out of an overflow.

And this is my prayer for you. That you too may find rest, renewal, and a home in the Spirit. That you would DWELL in the House of the Lord forever. No matter which hemisphere, timezone, continent, country, city, town, house, or apartment you are in. May the Lord be your dwelling place.
